A day at a country show!

Today the 'horsey' one , Henry and I headed off to a small agricultural show in Merino. It was a great day and something everyone should experience. Unfortunately a lot of these shows are slowly fading out. The horse events were held in the middle of the oval with the floats and trucks parked around it. In the background were dry rolling hills and paddocks. It really was in the middle of nowhere. There was also dog trials, some sideshows, cattle and sheep,  cookery, craft and flowers and of course the local service clubs were selling various food. The 'horsey' one and Henry were very successful winning many of their events, even enough prize money to 'just' cover their entries!!! They won 'smartest on parade' so that was exciting!

Sounds like you had a fabulous day. Well done to the horsey one and Henry for winning and well done you for taking them.

I think perhaps that it is the horse events that 'hold' together the rural shows. Without the crowd of 'horsey ones' I think a lot would fold.
